Finite Rate Feedback MIMO Broadcast Channels

چکیده

This paper summarizes recent results on the multiple antenna broadcast (downlink) channel with finite rate feedback of channel state information from each receiver. In this model, the receivers are assumed to have perfect channel knowledge, while the transmitter gains channel knowledge through a finite rate feedback channel from each receiver. The SNR degradation as a function of the feedback rate is computed, as is the feedback rate scaling required to achieve throughput close to that with perfect CSIT. Additionally, it is shown that a small number of antennas per receiver can be used to significantly reduce this required feedback load. Finally, the potential multiuser diversity in finite-rate feedback systems with a large number of users is studied.

A Design Framework for Scalar Feedback in MIMO Broadcast Channels

Joint linear beamforming and scheduling are performed in a system where limited feedback is present at the transmitter side. The feedback conveyed by each user to the base station consists of channel direction information (CDI) based on a predetermined codebook and a scalar metric with channel quality information (CQI) used to perform user scheduling. In this paper, we present a design framewor...

Compressed Sensing for Feedback Reduction in MIMO Broadcast Channels

We propose a generalized feedback model and compressive sensing based opportunistic feedback schemes for feedback resource reduction in MIMO Broadcast Channels under the assumption that both uplink and downlink channels undergo block Rayleigh fading. Feedback resources are shared and are opportunistically accessed by users who are strong, i.e. users whose channel quality information is above a ...

Limited Feedback Precoding for Wireless MIMO Broadcast Channels

Recently, a number of techniques have been introduced to exploit multiuser diversity of a wireless multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) broadcast channel (BC) that consists of a base station (BS) with t transmit antennas and K mobile stations (MS) with multiple antennas. However, prior works have ignored the rate overhead associated with feedback of MIMO BC channel state information (CSI), whi...

On Optimizing Feedback Interval for Temporally Correlated MIMO Channels With Transmit Beamforming And Finite-Rate Feedback

Assuming perfect channel state information (CSI), a receiver in a point-to-point MIMO channel can compute the transmit beamforming vector that maximizes the transmission rate. For frequencydivision duplex, a transmitter is not able to estimate CSI directly and has to obtain a quantized transmit beamforming vector from the receiver via a rate-limited feedback channel. We assume that time evoluti...

Multi-user Aware Limited Feedback for MIMO Systems

Consider a wireless communication system where the base station has multiple antennas and users have a single antenna. For both the multiple access and broadcast channels, the sum capacity scales at best linearly with the number of antennas at the base station and double logarithmically with the number of users as the user pool grows asymptotically. Achieving this optimal capacity scaling poten...
